Oatmeal Packet Ideas

  • Add fruit (raisins, blueberries, apples, etc)

  • Add milk, brown sugar or maple syrup to taste

Rice Pilaf Ideas

  • Add your favorite vegetables or meat 

  • Use more water for a soup-like texture, or the minimum amount for a thick, casserole type texture

  • See below for additional receipes

Recipes using Rice Pilaf packet

Rice Tortilla Wraps

  • 3 cups cooked rice mix

  • 1 15-oz can beans (black, pinto, chili, etc.)

  • 2 cups frozen corn or 1 15-oz can whole kernel corn

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar, Monterey jack, or pepper jack cheese (8 oz)

  • 1 cup salsa

  • 8-10” or burrito-size tortillas

Mix all ingredients together except tortillas. Divide mixture and roll up in a tortilla. To serve, microwave for about 1 minute

 

Rice Balls or Patties

  • 1 egg

  • ½ cup grated cheese

  • 1 small onion chopped fine and 1 Tblsp. dried parsley

  • ½ tsp. garlic powder, ¼ tsp. black pepper

  • 1 cup cooked rice pilaf mix

  • ¾ cup dried bread crumbs

  • ½ cup diced leftover ham

Mix all ingredients together and form into smaller patties or balls. Put on a baking pan and bake at 350 for about 10-15 minutes until golden brown. Or, fry in a skillet with a small amount of oil - brown on both sides, cover and cook until heated through on stove top. Can be served with tomato, cheese or a cream soup sauce.

Chicken & Broccoli

• Boil 8 cups of water
• Add one bag of rice pilaf and the following:

• 1 tablespoon olive oil
• 1 bag frozen broccoli
• 1 pound chicken, cut up
• I can of cream of mushroom soup
• Basil and parsley

Cook all in a large pot for about half an hour. Sere with a salad and garlic roll, if desired.

Sausage & Rice Casserole

• 1 bag of rice pilaf
• 12 oz. bulk sausage

• 1 sautéed onion

• 1 ½ cups chopped tomato (can substitute Rotel mix)
• 1 clove garlic chopped
• ½ teaspoon chopped basil (optional)
• hot sauce (optional)

Brown sausage and onion. Place 8 cups water in large pot. Bring to boil. Add rice pilaf, tomatoes, meat & onion mixture, and seasonings. Simmer on low for 20 minutes.

Mexi-Mix

• 1 bag of rice pilaf – prepared as directed on bag
• 1 cup salsa
• 1 16-oz can of corn
• 1 16-oz can black beans

Add remaining ingredients to prepared casserole and heat through. Serves 6-8.

Chinese Blend

• 1 bag of rice pilaf
• 2 tablespoon soy sauce
• Frozen stir-fry vegetable mix OR:

o 1 small head broccoli, chopped
o 3 carrots, finely chopped
o 3 stalks celery, chopped

Prepare casserole as directed on bag, adding soy sauce and frozen vegetable mix (or fresh vegetables). Cook until vegetables reach desired tenderness. Serves 6-8.

Jambalaya

• 8 oz pork sausage
• 1 onion, chopped
• 1 green pepper, chopped
• 1 stalk celery, chopped
• 2 tablespoons hot sauce
• 1 bag of rice pilaf

Sauté sausage until cooked, remove from pan. Add vegetables and sauté a few minutes. Return sausage to pan. Add hot sauce, rice mix, water and cook as directed on bag.

Taco rice: 1 bag of rice pilaf, 7 cups water, 1 can tomato soup, 1 cup cooked taco meat


Pork rice: 1 bag of rice pilaf, 7 cups water, 1 cup BBQ sauce, 1 cup cooked pork


Chicken & rice: 1 bag of rice pilaf, 7 cups water, 1 can cream of chicken soup, 1 cup cooked chicken


Chicken, apples & rice: 1 bag of rice pilaf, 7 cups water, 1 cup cooked chicken pieces, 1 cup chopped apples.


Ham & rice: 1 bag of rice pilaf, 7 cups water, 1 can cream of celery soup, 1 cup cooked ham pieces


Smokies & rice: 1 bag of rice pilaf, 7 cups water, 1 can tomato soup, 1 8-oz package of smokies


Beef & rice: 1 bag of rice pilaf, 7 cups water, 1 can cream of mushroom soup, 1 cup leftover chuck roast


Tuna & rice: 1 bag of rice pilaf, 7 cups water, 1 can tuna, 1 can cheddar cheese soup (or cream of mushroom

soup)
